Step 1.

Certificate of Registration

A Certificate of Registration is an absolute minimum requirement for working in all areas of Real Estate. Leverage offers one-day COR courses from 9am-5pm and an assessment to be completed in class or to be taken home and completed with additional time. The COR is offered in Real Estate Sales and Property Management, Business Broking, Strata Management and Stock and Station.

Once you receive your qualification, you can apply to the Office of Fair Trading to provide you with your Certificate to begin working in the industry.

Step 2.


The Certificate of Registration and other higher real estate qualifications must be maintained with yearly continued professional development. This is called CPD. 12 points of CPD must be completed each year. Leverage offers CPD courses for all 12 points in Real Estate (Sales and Property Management), Business Broking, Strata Management and Stock and Station. These courses are run over two hours in our Wynyard and Norwest Offices as well as through in-house education at your workplace. We do also have an online training portal at www.leverageacademyonline.edu.au

If these 12 points are not completed, your qualification will expire, impeding your ability to work in real estate and risking the wrath of the Office of Fair Trading.

Step 3.


Gain a competitive advantage and take your career to the next level with a Licence.

We offer Licence courses in Real Estate (Sales and Property Management), Business Broking, Strata Management and Stock and Station.

There are a multitude of reasons to upgrade from a Certificate of Registration to a Real Estate Licence, including the ability to demonstrate your skills and knowledge to your clients and underline your credibility as a real estate professional. If you are planning to open your own agency, you must be a licence holder to be able to employ other salespeople or property managers. The Licence is a necessity to become an auctioneer along with an add on Auctioneer Accreditation course.

If you already have experience as a real estate salesperson or property manager, you may be eligible to have your existing skills and knowledge recognised via our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment method. The RPL process ensures that if you can demonstrate your skills and knowledge in a business area, you will not have to repeat that study again, nor will you have to pay for that unit of competency.

Step 4.


The Property, Stock and Business Agents Act 2002 is in the process of reform. Where currently, a person only requires a licence to own and manage a real estate business, once the reforms come into practice, a Licensee-in-charge qualification will be required to own and manage a real estate business.

Where the Licence is a Cert IV course, the Licensee-In-Charge is a Diploma Course which means more units of competency.
